کیفیت گوشت و ترکیب لاشه از مهم­ترین صفات اقتصادی در گوسفند به شمار می‌روند. چربی بدن و دنبه از جمله عوامل
تأثیرگذار بر کیفیت لاشه و گوشت تولیدی در هر نژاد بوده و وقوع
جهش در توالی ژن­های کنترل­کننده این صفات می­تواند عملکرد حیوان و بالطبع ارزش ارثی را تحت تأثیر قرار دهد. هدف از این مطالعه بررسی چند شکلی برخی نواحی از ژنهای SAR1B، SEC24A و VDAC1 در منطقه ژنومی کاندیدا برای صفات چربی و دنبه روی کروموزوم  شماره 5 گوسفند بود. نمونه­های خون به طور تصادفی از تعداد 300 رأس گوسفند لری بختیاری و 100 رأس گوسفند زل جمع­آوری شد و استخراج DNA به روش نمکی بهینه یافته انجام شد. واکنش­های زنجیره­ای پلیمراز (PCR) برای تکثیر قطعه‌های 478، 579 و 348 جفت بازی ژن‌های مورد مطالعه با استفاده از جفت آغازگرهای اختصاصی،  و تعیین ژنوتیپ نمونه­ها با تکنیک SSCP  انجام شد. نتایج به دست آمده سه الگوی باندی A، B و C را برای ژن SAR1B در گوسفند لری بختیاری نشان داد، اما این جایگاه ژنی در گوسفند زل تک شکل بود. برای ژن SEC24A در هر دو نژاد سه الگوی باندی A، B  و C، اما جایگاه VDAC1 در دو نژاد تک شکل بود. تأثیر الگوهای باندی ژن SAR1B بر ویژگی­های دنبه معنی­دار (001/0P <) بود، به طوری که الگوی باندی A بیشترین مقادیر مشاهده شده برای محیط بالا، محیط پایین، ارتفاع و وزن دنبه را نشان داد. الگوهای مختلف باندی ژن SEC24A به طور معنی­داری با ویژگی­های دنبه در ارتباط بود (001/0P <) و الگوی باندی B بیشترین مقادیر را نشان داد. با توجه به تک شکل بودن جایگاه ژنی SAR1B در نژاد بدون دنبه زل و چند شکل بودن آن در نژاد دنبه‌دار لری بختیاری و همچنین چند شکل بودن جایگاه ژنی SEC24A در هر دو نژاد مورد مطالعه، این جایگاه­های نشانگری را  می‌توان به عنوان ژن‌های کاندیدای احتمالی مؤثر بر ویژگی‌های دنبه در نژادهای گوسفند دنبه‌دار مطرح کرد. مطالعه بیشتر نواحی دیگر (اگزون، اینترون و نواحی تنظیمی) این دو ژن  و ارتباط آنها با صفات دنبه برای تأیید نتایج پیشنهاد می­شود.
