    گونه­های مرتعی در مکان­ها و زمان­های مختلف کیفیت علوفه­ای متفاوتی داشته و در مراحل مختلف فنولوژیکی مقدار ارزش غذایی آنها  متغیر است. به همین منظور آزمایشی با هدف تعیین ارزش غذایی علوفه گونه بارهنگ پاکلاغی در 5 رویشگاه (گمیشان، سنگرتپه، صوفیکم، اینچه برون و چپرقویمه) از مراتع شور استان گلستان انجام شده، نمونه­ها در دو مرحله رشد فنولوژیکی رویشی و بذردهی جمع­آوری و سپس درصد پروتئین خام، چربی خام، ماده آلی، دیواره سلولی بدون همی سلولز و لیگنین تعیین شدند. قابلیت هضم ماده خشک و ماده آلی نمونه‏ها با استفاده از شیرابه شکمبه گاومیش به روش برون تنی اندازه­ گیری شد. نتایج آنالیز شیمیایی نشان داد که اختلاف معنی‏داری بین سایت­های مختلف از نظر درصد پروتئین خام، چربی خام و دیواره سلولی بدون همی سلولز وجود دارد (05/0P<). رویشگاه چپرقویمه از نظر درصد پروتئین خام، قابلیت هضم ماده آلی، انرژی قابل هضم و انرژی قابل متابولیسم بهتر از رویشگاه­های دیگر بود. در همه رویشگاه­ها، کیفیت علوفه در دو مرحله رشد رویشی و بذردهی متغیر بود (05/0P<). با پیشرفت مرحله فنولوژیکی گیاه، مقدار ماده خشک و دیواره سلولی بدون همی سلولز افزایش یافت اما درصد پروتئین خام، قابلیت هضم ماده خشک، ماده آلی، انرژی قابل هضم و انرژی قابل متابولیسم علوفه کاهش یافت (05/0P<). درصد پروتئین خام در دو مرحله رشد، بیشتر از حد بحرانی آن (7 درصد) برای نیاز یک واحد دامی بود. مقادیر انرژی قابل هضم و قابل متابولیسم در مرحله رشد رویشی بیشتر و در مرحله رسیدن دانه کمتر از حد بحرانی آن برای نیاز یک واحد دامی بود. بطور کلی نتایج نشان داد که کیفیت علوفه در سایت­های مختلف متغیر بوده و این گونه مرتعی در مرحله رشد رویشی می­تواند نیاز پروتئینی و نیز بخش زیادی از نیاز انرژی گروه­های مختلف گوسفند و بز را تأمین نمایند.
