در این تحقیق، اثر سطوح مختلف انرژی قابل متابولیسم و پروتئین خام جیره غذایی بر عملکرد، خصوصیات لاشه و فراسنجه‌های خونی بلدرچین ژاپنی در دوره رشد (14 تا 28 روزگی) بررسی شد. از 900 قطعه بلدرچین ژاپنی نر 14 روزه در یک آزمایش فاکتوریل 3×3 [سه سطح انرژی قابل متابولیسم (2900، 3050 و 3200 کیلوکالری در کیلوگرم) و سه سطح پروتئین خام (6/21، 24 و 4/26 درصد)] به صورت طرح کاملاً تصادفی با پنج تکرار و 20 پرنده در هر تکرار استفاده شد. مصرف خوراک، افزایش وزن و ضریب تبدیل خوراک در کل دوره اندازه­گیری شد. در پایان دوره، از هر تکرار دو قطعه پرنده انتخاب و پس از خون­گیری (برای اندازه‌گیری تری‌گلیسرید، کلسترول کل، ldl و اسید اوریک) جهت بررسی خصوصیات لاشه کشتار شدند.
پایین­ترین و بالاترین سطح انرژی و پروتئین، به ترتیب بیش‌ترین مصرف خوراک روزانه را موجب شدند (05/0
p<). افزایش وزن روزانه تحت تأثیر تیمارها قرار نگرفت (05/0<p)، با این وجود، ضریب تبدیل خوراک در جیره­های با سطوح 3050 و 3200 کیلوکالری انرژی قابل متابولیسم در کیلوگرم پایین تر از سطح 2900 کیلوکالری در کیلوگرم بودند (05/0p<). اثر متقابل انرژی و پروتئین بر نسبت وزن کبد به وزن کل بدن معنی‌داری بود (05/0p<) و بیش‌ترین مقدار متعلق به تیمار دریافت کننده 3200 کیلوکالری انرژی قابل متابولیسم و 24 درصد پروتئین خام بود. در بین فراسنجه‌های خونی، غلظت اسید اوریک خون تحت تأثیر سطوح انرژی قابل متابولیسم 3050 و 3200 کیلوکالری در کیلوگرم جیره کاهش یافت (05/0p<). بر اساس نتایج عملکرد در این مطالعه، می­توان سطح 3050 کیلوکالری انرژی قابل متابولیسم در کیلوگرم جیره را برای تغذیه بلدرچین ژاپنی در طی دوره رشد پیشنهاد نمود.
