در پژوهش کنونی از 15 راس بره نر کرمانی با میانگین وزن اولیه 2/1 ± 9/31 کیلوگرم در قالب یک طرح کاملاً تصادفی با 3 تیمار و 5 تکرار به مدت 10 هفته شامل 2 هفته عادت­ پذیری به جیره پایه و 8 هفته آزمایش، استفاده شد. گروه­ های آزمایشی شامل گروه شاهد (عدم تغذیه با مکمل کروم)، گروه تغذیه ­شده با 5/1 میلی­ گرم کروم در هر کیلو­گرم خوراک با استفاده از مکمل آلی کروم-متیونین و گروه تغذیه­ شده با 3 میلی­ گرم کروم در کیلو­گرم خوراک با استفاده از مکمل کروم-متیونین، بودند. نتایج نشان داد که میانگین مصرف خوراک روزانه در بره ­های تغذیه ­شده با 5/1 میلی­ گرم (002/0=p) و 3 میلی­ گرم (0004/0=p) کروم کمتر از گروه شاهد بود. وزن نهایی و متوسط افزایش وزن روزانه تحت تاثیر تیمارهای آزمایشی قرار نگرفت. تغذیه بره ­ها با 3 میلی­ گرم کروم سبب کاهش ضریب تبدیل خوراک شد (04/0=p). تیمارهای آزمایشی تاثیری بر قابلیت هضم ماده خشک، ماده آلی، چربی و الیاف نامحلول در شوینده خنثی نداشتند، اما قابلیت هضم الیاف نامحلول در شوینده اسیدی در بره­های پرواری تغذیه شده با 5/1 (003/0=p) و 3 میلی­گرم کروم (02/0=p) در مقایسه با گروه شاهد بالاتر بود. تغذیه بره­ ها با مکمل کروم تاثیری بر غلظت نیتروژن آمونیاکی و pH مایع شکمبه و غلظت گلوکز، پروتئین تام، آلبومین، گلوبولین، اوره و تری ­گلیسرید خون نداشت. بنابراین می­ توان نتیجه ­گیری کرد که استفاده از مکمل کروم به میزان 3 میلی­ گرم در کیلوگرم جیره سبب بهبود ضریب تبدیل خوراک بره ­های پرواری می­ شود.
