این پژوهش به ­منظور بررسی اثر عمل­ آوری شیمیایی و زیستی بر ترکیب شیمیایی، فراسنجه ­های تولید گاز و قابلیت هضم برون­تنی بقایای نخود زراعی در قالب طرح کاملاً تصادفی (7 تیمار و 3 تکرار) انجام شد. تیمارها شامل بقایای نخود زراعی عمل ­آوری نشده (شاهد) و عمل­ آوری شده با آب (5/2 لیتر در کیلوگرم ماده خشک)، هیدروکسید سدیم (50 گرم در کیلوگرم ماده خشک)، پراکسید هیدروژن (114 میلی ­لیتر در کیلوگرم ماده خشک)، و قارچ ­های آسپرژیلوس نایجر، تریکودرما هارزیانوم و صدفی (105× 5 اسپور بر میلی­ لیتر) بودند. ترکیب شیمیایی نمونه­ ها مطابق روش ­های استاندارد تعیین شد. به­ منظور برآورد فرآسنجه­ های تولید گاز نمونه ­ها، از آزمون تولید گاز استفاده شد. قابلیت هضم برون­تنی نمونه ­ها با استفاده از روش کشت بسته انجام شد. عمل ­آوری بر ترکیب شیمیایی تیمارها موثر بود (03/0>p). به ­جز آب، سایر تیمارها باعث افزایش خاکستر و کاهش ماده آلی شدند. مقدار پروتئین خام توسط تیمارهای مختلف افزایش یافت. بیشترین مقدار در تیمار تریکودرما مشاهده شد (76/4 درصد ماده خشک). هیدروکسید سدیم باعث کاهش الیاف نامحلول در شوینده خنثی نسبت به شاهد شد (00/54 درصد 66/56 درصد). عمل­ آوری پتانسیل تولید گاز و نرخ تولید گاز را کاهش داد. کمترین مقدار این صفات در تیمار تریکودرما به­ دست آمد (به ­ترتیب 9/162 میلی­ لیتر به ازای 200 میلی­ گرم ماده خشک و 052/0 میلی ­لیتر در ساعت). تیمارهای هیدروکسید سدیم و قارچ آسپرژیلوس مقدار قابلیت هضم ماده خشک و ماده آلی را افزایش (01/0>p) دادند (به ­ترتیب 58 و 62 درصد برای قابلیت هضم ماده خشک، 57 و 62 درصد برای قابلیت هضم ماده آلی). تمام تیمارها باعث افزایش توده میکروبی تولید شده و بازده آن شدند (0003/0>p). بیشترین افزایش در تیمار آسپرژیلوس مشاهده شد (به ­ترتیب 28/160 میلی­ گرم بر گرم ماده خشک و 48/0). بر اساس نتایج حاصل از این پژوهش، تیمارهای هیدروکسید سدیم و قارچ آسپرژیلوس در بهبود ارزش تغذیه ­ای بقایای نخود فرنگی در شرایط آزمایشگاهی موثر بودند.
