   اثر سطوح مختلف چگالی‌ ذرت پرک ­شده بر عملکرد، فراسنجه‌های خونی و شکمبه ­ای 48 رأس گوساله شیرخوار نژاد هلشتاین با میانگین وزنی (1/20±38/5) کیلوگرم در قالب 4 تیمار و 12 تکرار به‌مدت 70 روز بررسی شد. تیمارها شامل دانه ذرت به شکل آردی (شاهد)، دانه ذرت پرک­شده با چگالی­ 300، دانه ذرت پرک ­شده با چگالی 350 و دانه ذرت پرک­ شده با چگالی 400 گرم بر لیتر بودند. گوساله‌ها در 56 روزگی از شیرگیری شدند و مصرف روزانه خوراک آغازین و وزن بدن تا 70 روزگی اندازه ­گیری شد. اثر تغذیه تیمارهای آزمایشی بر افزایش وزن و مصرف ماده خشک گوساله­ ها معنی­ دار نبود. نتایج حاصل از این تحقیق اثر معنی­ دار تیمارهای مورد آزمایش بر غلظت اسیدهای چرب فرار شکمبه و تری­ گلیسیرید خون را نشان داد (0/05>p). چگالی 350 گرم بر لیتر ذرت پرک ­شده (تیمار 3) بالاترین غلظت تری­ گلیسیرید، پروپیونیک و بوتیریک اسید و تیمار حاوی ذرت پرک­شده با چگالی300 گرم (تیمار 2) بر لیتر بیشترین میزان استیک اسید را به­ خود اختصاص دادند. بالاترین غلظت آی-والریک (i-VA) اسید متعلق به تیمار شاهد (فرم آردی دانه ذرت) بود. اثر دوره نمونه ­برداری بر پارامترهای عملکردی، خونی، رشد اسکلتی و در بین اسیدهای چرب فرار شکمبه استیک و ایزومرهای والریک اسید معنی­ دار بود (0/05>p). بر اساس نتایج این تحقیق عمل‌آوری دانه ذرت  با چگالی 350 گرم بر لیتر نسبت به دیگر چگالی ­ها پاسخ عملکردی بهتری در ارتباط با اغلب پارامترهای مورد بررسی داشت و بدون داشتن تأثیر منفی بر عملکرد گوساله­ ها قادر به بهبود برخی پارامترهای عملکردی، خونی و شکمبه ­ای گوساله­ ها بود.
