    انتخاب برای افزایش فراوانی موتاسیون­ های جدیدی که فقط در برخی از زیر­جمعیت ­ها سودمند هستند باعث باقی­ گذاشتن نشانه­ هایی در سطح ژنوم می­شود. اغلب این مناطق با ژن­ها و QTL­های مرتبط با صفات مهم اقتصادی در ارتباط هستند. هدف این مطالعه، شناسایی نشانه­ های انتخاب مرتبط با صفات عملکردی در تعدادی از گوسفندان جهان با استفاده از روش­های نوین بود. برای این­ منظور فایل­های تعیین ژنوتیپ با استفاده از تراشه ­های ژنومی مربوطه به 1591 رأس گوسفند از نژاد­های مختلف جهان شامل 52 نژاد از 20 کشور تمام قاره ­ها و 13 مطالعه انجام­ شده که در پایگاه ­های مختلف داده­ های ژنومی (Dryad ،Frontiresin ،Zenodo ، Animal Genom،Hapmap) ذخیره شده بودند، استفاده شد. ابتدا جهت تعیین اختلاط جمعیتی بین نژاد­های مختلف از مناطق با شرایط آب و هوایی متنوع آنالیز ساختار جمعیتی یا همان لایه ­بندی جمعیتی انجام گرفت. برای شناسایی نشانه ­های انتخاب از آزمون­های Fst، hapflk، iHs،Rsb ، XpEHH و در نهایت فرا تحلیل روش­های فوق استفاده شد. جمعیت با آنالیز PCA در سه گروه جدا از یکدیگر شامل AIT: نژادهای آسیایی، ترکیه­ای و آفریقایی، AUNZ: نژاد­های استرالیایی و نیوزیلند و EU: نژاد­های اروپایی قرار گرفتند. براساس آزمون فرا­تحلیل 10 منطقه ژنگانی روی کروموزوم­های 22، 20، 12، 9، 7، 6، 5، 4، 3، 2 شناسایی شدند. به­ طوری­که ژن MC1R با رنگ پوست، ژن DSG2 با کیفیت و کمیت پشم و ژن AICDA با تولید ایمونوگلوبولین مرتبط هستند. تجزیه و تحلیل بیوانفورماتیکی نشان داد که برخی از این مناطق ژنگانی به­ طور مستقیم و غیرمستقیم با ژن­­های مؤثر بر سازگاری با شرایط محیطی(ADAMTS9)، تولیدمثلی (GNAQ)، تنظیم ملانوسیت ­ها (KITLG)، تولید ایمونوگلوبولین (BATF، TNFSF13، AICDA، MZB1)، تمایز سلولی (TNFSF13، TGFB1فرآیند ایمنی (AGBL5، ATG7، PRDX1، CCL26، IL17RC، TNFSF12، TGFB2، PTGS1پاسخ سلولی به تحریکات بیرونی (PRKAA1، NFKB1، MAP3K2)، تولید اینترفرون آلفا (DDX58فرآیند پاسخ دفاعی (CCL24، FAM13B، LDLR، CLDN7)، هموستاز سلولی (BAMBI، DVL2تنظیم پروتئین کیناز فعال ­شده با میتوژن (PLCE1) و تنظیم پاسخ به استرس (FXR2، HSPH1) همپوشانی دارند. تجزیه و تحلیل تطبیقی فرا­تحلیل نشانه­ های انتخاب بر اساس پایگاه داده­ های بیو­انفورماتیکی می ­تواند مناطق ژنومی مورد انتخاب برای صفات با اهمیت اقتصادی و بیولوژیکی در گوسفند را شناسایی کند.
