هدف از انجام آزمایش حاضر بررسی اثر جیره غذایی حاوی سلنیوم آلی و معدنی بر عملکرد رشد، صفات لاشه و متابولیت­های خونی در جوجه غاز بود. تعداد 96 قطعه غاز بومی یک ­روزه در قالب طرح کاملاً تصادفی با 3 تیمار، 4 تکرار و 8 پرنده در هر تکرار به ­مدت 8 هفته استفاده شد. جیره‌های آزمایشی شامل جیره پایه، جیره پایه بعلاوه 0/3 میلی‌گرم در کیلوگرم جیره سلنیوم آلی (Sel-plex)  و جیره پایه بعلاوه 0/3 میلی‌گرم در کیلوگرم جیره سلنیوم معدنی (سلنیت سدیم) بودند. صفات مربوط به عملکرد از سن 1 الی 56 روزگی رکوردگیری و  هر دو هفته یک بار محاسبه شدند. جهت ارزیابی ایمنی سلولی از روش پاسخ حساسیت پوستی به فیتوهماگلوتنین استفاده شد. نتایج نشان داد که افزایش وزن بدن در طی دوره­های 2 تا 6 هفتگی افزایش و بعد از آن کاهش یافت. بیشترین ضریب تبدیل غذایی مربوط به گروه شاهد در هفته هشتم بوده و افزودن هر دو منبع سلنیوم سبب بهبود ضریب تبدیل غذایی شد (0/05>p). صفات لاشه تحت تأثیر منابع مختلف معدنی و آلی سلنیوم قرار نگرفت (0/05>p). مکمل­­ سازی جیره غذایی با سلنیوم معدنی و آلی سبب افزایش میزان ترکیبات فنولیک و میزان اسید چرب اشباع و غیراشباع گوشت و کاهش اکسیداسیون لیپید گوشت بعد از 9 روز نگهداری در دمای 4 درجه یخچال شد (0/05>p). مکمل سلنیوم سبب کاهش میزان کلسترول تام خون ­شد (0/05>p). پاسخ ایمنی سلولی در گروه سلنیوم ­آلی در مقایسه با سلنیوم معدنی و گروه شاهد بهبود یافت (0/05>p). نتایج این آزمایش پیشنهاد می کند سلنیوم جیره غذایی خصوصا سلنیوم آلی پتانسیل مطلوبی برای بهبود نسبی عملکرد و افزایش ایمنی  سلولی و کیفیت گوشت جوجه غازها دارد.
