طراحی این مطالعه جهت بررسی آثار مهار فعالیت گیرنده­ های بتا آدرنرژیک از طریق مکمل ­سازی غلظت­ های مختلف پروپانولول (به­ عنوان مهارکننده غیر اختصاصی گیرنده های بتا) روی برخی از شاخص ­های تولیدی در مرغ تخم­گذار در پایان دوره اقتصادی تولید و ویژگی­های کیفی تخم­ مرغ انجام شد. این آزمایش در قالب یک طرح کاملا تصادفی، در یک بازه زمانی 26 روزه، با استفاده از 64 قطعه مرغ تخمگذار (سن90هفتگی) شامل 4 تیمار (شامل تیمار شاهد و تیمار پروپانولول با غلظت ­های 1، 2 و 3 میلی ­گرم بر کیلوگرم وزن زنده بدن) با 4 تکرار و هر تکرار شامل 4 پرنده انجام گرفت و برخی از شاخص­ های تولیدی، اندازه فولیکولی (F1-F5) و کیفی تخم ­مرغ اندازه­ گیری و محاسبه شدند. داده­ های به ­دست آمده از شاخص ­های تولیدی نشان می ­دهد که استفاده از تمامی غلظت ­های این مهارکننده سبب افزایش معنی­ دار درصد تخم­گذاری و بهبود ضریب تبدیل خوراک شد. همچنین پروپانولول در غلظت 3 میلی­ گرم پروپانولول سبب افزایش معنی ­دار مصرف خوراک و اندازه فولیکول F1 شد. درباره شاخص­های کیفی تخم­ مرغ، استفاده از این مهارکننده سبب افزایش معنی ­دار ضخامت پوسته تخم­ مرغ، افزایش معنی­ دار وزن تخم­ مرغ نسبت پوسته به وزن کل تخم­ مرغ و بهبود شاخص­ هاو در غلظت­ های 2 و 3 میلی­ گرم پروپانولول در پرندگان تحت تیمار شد. از این رو می­ توان به این نتیجه رسید مکمل ­سازی غلظت­های مختلف پروپانولول در این پژوهش توانسته سبب بهبود در برخی از شاخص­ های تولیدی و کیفی تخم­ مرغ در مرغ تخم­گذار در اواخر دوره تولید شود.
