    عناصر معدنی کم مصرف نظیر سلنیوم می­تواند از منابع مختلف در جیره غذایی گنجانده شود. پژوهش حاضر با هدف بررسی اثرات گنجاندن عنصر سلنیوم معدنی، آلی و نانو در جیره غذایی گوساله‌های شیری بر عملکرد، سلامت، فاکتور رشد و برخی پارامترهای خونی آن‌ها انجام شده است. چهل و هشت گوساله تازه متولد شده هلشتاین در قالب یک طرح کاملا تصادفی در طی دوره 60 روزه با چهار تیمار (6 راس ماده و 6راس نر برای هر تیمار) به ­صورت زیر استفاده شد: 1) جیره شاهد بدون سلنیوم، 2) جیره مکمل شده با سلنیوم معدنی، 3) جیره مکمل شده با سلنیوم آلی و 4) جیره مکمل شده با نانو سلنیوم. به غیر از تیمار شاهد (1) تیمارهای دیگر دارای غلظت سلنیوم (mg/kg 3/0 جیره غذایی) یکسان بودند. تغییرات وزن بدن، فراسنجه‌های رشد، قوام مدفوع، نمرات سلامتی، متابولیت‌های بیوشیمیایی، فعالیت آنزیم‌های کبدی، گلوتاتیون پراکسیداز، ظرفیت آنتی­ اکسیدان تام، مقادیراسید‌های چرب غیر استریفیه، بتاهیدروکسی بوتیریک اسید و مالون دی آلدئید خون گوساله‌ها اندازه­ گیری شدند. نتایج نشان­ داد که منابع سلنیوم در تغذیه و دریافت مواد جامد گوساله‌های قبل از شیرگیری در طی آزمایش بی اثر بود. مکمل کردن جیره با سلنیوم بر وزن زنده بدن گوساله‌ها تاثیر نداشت. منابع سلنیوم بر فراسنجه‌های خونی تأثیری نداشتند، در حالی‌که ظرفیت آنتی اکسیدانی تام خون در گوساله‌های حاوی سلنیوم آلی در مقایسه با سایر تیمارها بیشتر بود (506/0 میلی­ مول در لیتر). طول بدن، دور سینه و ظرفیت بدن تحت تأثیر منبع مختلف سلنیوم قرار گرفت. با مکمل نانو سلنیوم ارتفاع جدوگاه گوساله‌ها در مقایسه با دیگر تیمارها افزایش یافت. نتایج حاضر نشان داد که منبع بهینه سلنیوم برای گوساله­ های شیری سلنیوم آلی بود.
