مطالعه‌‌ی حاضر با هدف برآورد پارامترهای ژنتیکی صفات بیومتریک در گوسفند ایرانی نژاد مغانی است. مجموع کل داده‌ها 15115 رکورد مربوط به صفات بیومتریک است که از 3702 نتاج و از 499 رأس گوسفند نر و 3203 رأس گوسفند ماده در یک دوره 15 ساله (1390-1375) از ایستگاه پرورش و اصلاح نژاد جعفر آباد مغان جمع آوری شده است. اجزای واریانس و پارامترهای ژنتیکی با استفاده از روش حداکثر درستنمایی محدود شده (REMEL) و  با استفاده از نرم­افزار WOMBAT برآورد گردید. پس از برآزش شش مدل، انتخاب بهترین مدل بر اساس شاخص اطلاعات آکائیک (AIC) انجام شد. همه‌ی صفات به طور معنی‌داری (01/0>P) توسط سال تولد، جنس بره و نوع تولد تحت تأثیر قرار گرفتند. با استفاده از بهترین مدل برآزش یافته برای هر صفت، وراثت‌پذیری مستقیم برای صفات ارتفاع از جدوگاه، ارتفاع از کپل، طول بدن، دور سینه و دور ران به ترتیب 10/0، 04/0، 16/0، 11/0 و 37/0 برآورد گردید. با استفاده از تجزیه و تحلیل دو صفتی، همبستگی ژنتیکی افزایشی از 55/0- (بین طول بدن و دور ران) تا 99/0 (بین ارتفاع از جدوگاه و ارتفاع از کپل) برآورد گردید. برآورد پارامترهای ژنتیکی مخصوصا وراثت‌پذیری مربوط به صفات بیومتریک نشان داد که در گوسفند نژاد مغانی تنوع ژنتیکی کافی وجود دارد فلذا می‌توان به نتیجه بخش بودن برنامه‌های اصلاحی امیدوار بود و نتایج مطالعه حاضر می‌تواند به عنوان  الگویی برای سایر نژادها به خصوص نژادهای ایرانی کد برنامه مدیریتی مشابه با ایستگاه اصلاح نژاد مغانی در این نژاد دارند.
