     هدف از این آزمایش، بررسی اثر جایگزینی بخشی از علوفه جیره (یونجه) با کاه فرآوری­شده بر گوارش­پذیری، فعالیت جویدن، تخمیر شکمبه، فرآسنجه­ های خونی و عملکرد بره­ های نر پرواری بود. کاه گندم با 7 درصد هیدروکسید سدیم، 5/3 درصد نمک و 3/3 درصد کربنات کلسیم فرآوری و سپس بمدت 2 ماه سیلو شد. تعداد 23 راس بره نر (وزن 28 کیلوگرم) در قالب طرح کاملا تصادفی به جیره­ های آزمایشی حاوی منابع علوفه­ای: 1) شاهد (100 درصد یونجه، بدون کاه)، 2) یک سوم کاه (33 درصد کاه و 67 درصد یونجه) و 3) دوسوم کاه (67 درصد کاه و 33 درصد یونجه) اختصاص یافتند. نتایج کیسه گذاری شکمبه (24 و 48 ساعت) نشان داد که تجزیه ­پذیری کاه گندم فرآوری­شده و یونجه یکسان و بیشتر (01/0=p) از کاه فرآوری نشده بود. مصرف خوراک و مدت­ زمان جویدن با افزایش سطح کاه در جیره به­ طور خطی کاهش (01/0=p) یافت، اما بین مدت زمان جویدن به­ ازای واحد خوراک مصرفی تفاوتی مشاهده نشد. تغذیه جیره ­های حاوی کاه سبب بهبود خطی گوارش پذیری الیاف (01/0>p)، تمایل به کاهش pH مایع شکمبه (08/0=p، بصورت درجه دو)، افزایش نیتروژن آمونیاکی (04/0=p)، افزایش درصد مولار استات (05/0=p) و افزایش غلظت کل اسیدهای چرب فرار (02/0=p، به­ صورت درجه دو) شد. همچنین، افزایش سطح کاه در جیره
به ­­طور درجه دو منجر به افزایش وزن روزانه (02/0=
p) و کارآیی خوراک (08/0=p) شد. اجزای لاشه، نسبت مولار پروپیونات و بوتیرات شکمبه و فراسنجه­ های خونی تحت تاثیر تیمارهای آزمایشی قرار نگرفتند. به­ طور­کلی نتایج نشان داد جایگزینی بخش عمده علوفه یونجه با کاه اثر منفی بر عملکرد ندارد، اما سطح یک ­سوم کاه در جیره اثر مطلوبی بر گوارش­ پذیری الیاف، افزایش وزن و ضریب تبدیل غذایی بره­ های پرواری داشت.
