      در پژوهش حاضر با توجه به نقش آرژنین در پیش گیری از وقوع آسیت و امکان جای گزینی این اسید آمینه با گوانیدینواستیک اسید، تاثیر افزودن سطوح مختلف گوانیدینواستیک اسید (5/0 و 1 گرم در کیلوگرم) در جیره‌های کم پروتئین بر عملکرد رشد و وقوع آسیت در جوجه‌های گوشتی بررسی شد. برای این منظور از 208 قطعه جوجه خروس گوشتی  (راس 308 ) در 4 تیمار و 4 تکرار در قالب طرح کاملاً تصادفی استفاده شد. جوجه‌ها تا سن 42 روزگی روی بستر پرورش داه شدند. تیمارها شامل یک جیره با سطح پروتئین نرمال مطابق با احتیاجات NRC و یک جیره کم پروتئین با 30 گرم در کیلوگرم پروتئین خام کمتر نسبت به جیره با پروتئین نرمال بود. دو جیره کم پروتئین مشابه دیگر نیز تهیه شد که با سطوح 5/0 و 1 گرم در کیلوگرم گوانیدینواستیک اسید مکمل شدند. نتایج نشان داد که سطوح پروتئین و مکمل گوانیدینواستیک اسید تاثیر معنی‌داری بر عملکرد رشد، بازدهی سینه و ران نداشت. وزن نسبی کبد و قلب به طور معنی‌داری در گروه کم پروتئین بالاتر بود. افزودن گوانیدینواستیک اسید در جیره‌های کم پروتئین سبب کاهش معنی‌دار وزن نسبی کبد، قلب و نسبت بطن راست به مجموع بطن‌ها شد به طوری که این تیمارها با گروه پروتئین نرمال اختلاف معنی‌داری نداشتند. تغذیه جیره‌های کم پروتئین سبب کاهش معنی‌دار غلظت سرمی نیتریک اکساید، اسید اوریک و نسبت هتروفیل به لنفوسیت شد. افزودن گوانیدینواستیک اسید به جیره‌های کم پروتئین بازگشت سطوح این فراسنجه‌ها به سطوح مشابه آن در گروه پروتئین نرمال را موجب گردید. به طور کلی، نتایج آزمایش تاثیر مثبت گوانیدینواستیک اسید در

گیری از‌ هایپرتروفی بطن راست و وقوع سندرم فشار خون ریوی در جوجه‌های گوشتی را تایید نمود.
