در طول دوره ذخیره ­سازی منی، آسیب­ های ناشی از اکسیداسیون یکی از علل مهم کاهش تحرک و قدرت باروری اسپرم ­ها می­ باشد. بنابراین تصور می ­شود آنتی ­اکسیدان­ هایی مثل روی و ویتامین C موجود در پلاسمای منی به علت خاصیت آنتی ­اکسیدانی بالقوه و با جلوگیری از اثرات مخرب گونه­ های فعال اکسیژن بتوانند تأثیر مهمی در زمینه کاهش پراکسیداسیون لیپید اسپرم داشته باشند. مطالعه حاضر با هدف بررسی تأثیر سطوح مختلف ویتامین C و عنصر روی در رقیق ­کننده تریس بر خصوصیات اسپرم قوچ عربی در شرایط مایع به صورت فاکتوریل 4×3×3 در قالب طرح کاملاً تصادفی صورت گرفت. تیمارها شامل سطوح مختلف ویتامین C (صفر، ۱۵۰  و 300 میکروگرم در میلی­لیتر)، عنصر روی (صفر، 90 و 180 میکروگرم در میلی­لیتر) و زمان­ های مختلف نگهداری منی رقیق شده (صفر، 2، 4 و 8 ساعت) در 5 درجه ­سانتی­ گراد بودند. اسپرم ­گیری از 8 رأس قوچ عربی 3-2 ساله به طور هفتگی در فصل تولیدمثلی به عمل آمده و بلافاصله منی آن­ها مخلوط شدند. نمونه منی مخلوط پس از رقیق سازی با تریس به 9 قسمت تقسیم شده و سطوح مختلف ویتامین C و عنصر روی را دریافت کردند. خصوصیات اسپرم شامل درصد تحرک پیش رونده، زنده ­مانی و ناهنجاری ­های مورفولوژیکی در زمان های مختلف مورد ارزیابی قرار گرفتند. نتایج نشان داد که تأثیر ویتامین C، عنصر روی و مدت نگهداری منی بر تحرک پیش ­رونده، زنده­ مانی و ناهنجاری اسپرم­ ها معنی ­دار بود (05/0p<). همچنین مقایسه میانگین­ ها بر اساس آزمون دانکن نشان داد که بیشترین درصد تحرک و زنده ­مانی و کمترین ناهنجاری اسپرم ­ها مربوط به سطوح صفر ویتامین C و عنصر روی بود (05/0p<). بنابراین ویتامین C و عنصر روی در شرایط نگهداری اسپرم قوچ عربی به حالت مایع موجب بهبود تحرک، زنده­ مانی و ناهنجاری اسپرم نشدند.
